The once per day bus service that Polebrook briefly enjoyed for a couple of years has been suspended.
In its place there is now a book in advance service from County Connect
There is also a free bus service provided by Oundle Co-operative each Thursday (see below).
The County Connect bus will collect you from any designated pick-up point and take you to any other in each village or town. You can travel from village to village as well as into Oundle. From Oundle you can get a connection with more long distance buses such as the X4 and 24 services, which run to Peterborough to the north, and to Corby and Northampton in south and west.
You do need to pre-book as there is no fixed timetable. You can make a booking by telephone or online via their website. The bus will not pick you up without a valid booking. Bookings can be made up to an hour before you need to travel (subject to availability) and up to a week in advance. The service does run on a ‘first come first served’ basis, so the longer notice you can give, the more likely you are to get your requested journey.
Fares are based on the distance travelled. Concessionary travel is valid after 9.30am on Monday to Friday and all day Saturday.
Free Co-operative Bus:
Oundle Co-operative Food provides a free bus service from Polebrook and other villages on Thursdays. Decker bus will pick you up from Polebrook War Memorial at 10:16am and get you to the Co-op in Oundle by 10:45am in order for you to do your shopping each Thursday (Market Day in Oundle).
They will get to Oundle for 10:345am and depart at 12:15pm allowing 1.5 hours to complete your weekly shop and browse at your leisure.
